Why This Role Exists
SureVoter's product is a mobile-first web experience where AI-generated content must feel trustworthy, responsive, and clear. The frontend is where trust gets built or broken. Every interaction, every loading state, every way we present AI-generated explanations shapes whether users believe the system is helping them understand or trying to manipulate them. This role owns the entire frontend experience.

Every person at SureVoter uses AI daily as a core part of how they think, build, and ship. We use AI to write code, research problems, prototype, and accelerate decisions. If you're someone who has been actively adopting AI tools into your workflow and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with them, you'll fit right in. If you're waiting for AI to prove itself before you engage, this isn't the right environment. We're building an AI-native product and we operate as an AI-native team.
What You'll Do
Core Frontend Development (60%)
- Build and own the mobile-first web application using Astro and React
- Implement the conversational AI interface with streaming responses, progressive disclosure, and interaction patterns optimized for understanding
- Build reusable component libraries with consistent design patterns that scale across the product
- Work closely with the Product Designer to implement the design system and trust-building UI patterns
- Optimize performance: bundle size, time-to-interactive, perceived latency for AI responses
- Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG) and intuitive UX across devices
AI Experience Integration (25%)
- Build frontend patterns for AI-generated content: source attribution, confidence signals, multi-perspective presentation
- Implement streaming response handling with appropriate loading states and error recovery
- Create interaction patterns that make AI transparency visible
- Collaborate with the AI Engineer to surface structured data and citations in the interface
Platform & Quality (15%)
- Define API contracts and shared TypeScript types with backend engineers
- Implement state management patterns appropriate to application needs
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure reliability
- Participate in architecture decisions and code reviews
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of frontend or full-stack development experience
- Expert-level TypeScript and React proficiency
- Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks (Astro, Next.js)
- Experience building mobile-first, responsive web applications
- Experience integrating with AI-powered backends: streaming responses, handling latency, error states
- Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques
- Strong UI/UX sensibility and attention to detail
- Active user of AI coding tools and always looking for new ways to accelerate
Preferred
- Experience building conversational or chat-based interfaces
- Background in civic tech, news/media apps, or trust-sensitive products
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design
- Experience at an early-stage startup where you defined frontend architecture
- Familiarity with design systems and component library development
- React Native experience (mobile native is on the roadmap)
What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
- The mobile-first web application is live, fast, and feels trustworthy to users
- AI-generated content is presented with clear attribution, appropriate uncertainty, and multi-perspective framing
- The design system is implemented and scales across new features without accumulating debt
- Users say the experience feels responsive, clear, and respectful of their intelligence
